Work Description:
This painting shows a nearly empty street lined with small houses and other structures. A single figure walks down the center of the street towards the bottom right corner of the composition. He is hunched over as if walking into a stiff, chilly wind. A telephone-pole rises vertically on the left half of the work, and casts a long shadow perpendicularly from its base towards the figure. A hilly landscape is visible just beyond the structures on the right. The long shadows from the telephone pole and largest structure's sign and chimney suggest that it is early evening, and the sky is slowly dimming from the right.
