This color slide depicts the installation of the exhibition "Clyfford Still" at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in California. PH-393 (1956, cropped) extends from the left edge of the frame, followed by PH-795 (1971), PH-971 (1957), PH-973 (1959), and PH-929 (1974, cropped). On the far right, the artist appears with a security guard. His youngest daughter, Sandra, stands in the background. On view January 8 through April 20, 1976, the exhibition featured thirty-three paintings. Still loaned three artworks from his personal collection to accompany his 1975 gift of twenty-eight paintings, in addition to the two previously owned by the museum. With the acquisition of Still’s gift, the institution constructed a permanent gallery to house the entire collection, while movable walls allowed for the exhibition of select artworks.
