Work Description:

This color slide depicts the installation of the exhibition "Clyfford Still" at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in California. PH-929 (1974) hangs on the front-facing partition to the left and PH-919 (1974) appears on the right. On view January 8 through April 20, 1976, the exhibition featured thirty-three paintings. Still loaned three artworks from his personal collection to accompany his 1975 gift of twenty-eight paintings, in addition to the two previously owned by the museum. Following the acquisition of Still’s gift, the institution constructed a permanent gallery to house the entire collection, while movable walls allowed for the exhibition of select artworks.
