This color slide depicts an installation view of the exhibition “American Art at Mid-Century 1” at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Clyfford Still's PH-115 (1951) occupies a partition in the center, while Hans Hofmann's "Lava" (1960, cropped) hangs to the left and Philip Guston's "The Mirror" (1957, cropped) is situated on the right. On view October 28, 1973 through January 6, 1974, the exhibition featured twenty-six paintings and sculptures by twenty-three American artists. The presentation of these works demonstrated the diverse artistic styles of post-World War II New York.
