This file contains the first part of correspondence between artist/sculptor Claire Falkenstein and Clyfford and Patricia Still. The materials cover the period from 1955 to 1971, beginning when Falkenstein was living in Paris and ending with her in Venice, CA. Throughout their correspondence Still and Falkenstein regularly compliment each other's work and discuss artistry, they also exchange photos as a part of the mutual respect they have for one another. The file contains several images of Falkensteins works from 1955 and 1956, as well as exhibition catalogs from the 1960s. A notable topic of conversation is Falkenstein connecting Still to Michel Tapie; the file also contains a couple of letters from Tapie, sent via Falkenstein. In 1956, Still sends Falkenstein a selection of photos for Tapie to publish in an upcoming book.
