Work Description:
This file contains correspondence between Ti-Grace Sharpless and Clyfford Still and writings by Sharpless. It includes a letter from Sandra Still, marked as not sent, where she discusses her distrust of Sharpless because she "refuses to subordinate herself to a man unless she will get something out of it." It also includes Sharpless's article in ARTnews about the Still exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania, and Sharpless writes Still about the exhibition and her studies. There is a copy of Sharpless's speech at Catholic University in March 1971 about women in church, largely focusing on the way women have been undermined and damaged by Christian religion. In April 1973, Sharpless writes Still in hopes for aid in for her friend Archie Jackson, who is a black militant arrested on a weapons charge and she is hoping Still will help with his bail. Still responds that his funds are tied up, but wishes he could help. Finally there is an article about June Wayne that mentions Sharpless.
