This file contains correspondence between Clyfford Still and Mark Rothko from 1949-1957. Topics they discuss include art critics and criticism, exhibitions and galleries, painting and abstract expressionism, display of Still's artworks, the celebrity of some artists - specifically Jackson Pollock, support between artists especially is exhibition design, art sales, art history and teaching, Still and Rothko's relationships to other artists (specifically Motherwell and Reinhardt) and their various frustrations with the art world. Also includes a copy of a Patricia Still dairy note on "The Rothko Conspiracy" a PBS television dramatization from 1983. And an American Spectator articles from 1994 about a Rothko biography.
