It includes Rothko discussing Betty Parsons and her gallery, Rothko and Still's studios, Rothko's exhibitions and ephemera related to his exhibitions, discussions on other artists such as Jackson Pollock and Robert Motherwell, Rothko's artworks, and the development of Rothko's and Still's solo shows and their raising popularity. Still's letters to Rothko also discuss Still's frustrations with critics and gallery shows. Both discuss in detail their relationships to Betty Parsons and her gallery. Still and Rothko's strained relationship is also discussed in their letters.
