This file contains correspondence from Metropolitan Museum of Art Curator of American Paintings and Sculpture Henry Geldahler. It opens with a photocopy of a 1963 letter from Geldzahler to Patrick J. Lannan requesting a Still painting for a Metropolitan Museum exhibition "Twentieth Century American Painting" during the New York World's Fair, which Lannan agrees to loan. In November 1977, Geldzahler tells Still that Still's 1946 painting (probably PH-384) is on display at the Metropolitan Museum. Still writes back in appreciation and Still mentions his appreciation for the Metropolitan Museum and his travel to there in 1925. Still presents the idea of doing a full retrospective of his work and hopes it can be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, of which Galdzahler is interested in doing, but needs to wait until they have a new director at the museum. Finally, there is a 1982 article from the New York Times about Geldzahler leaving the New York City's Commissional of Cultural Affairs. Finally, there is an article about Henry Geldzahler and his exhibition "New York Painting and Sculpture: 1940-1970" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
