This file contains correspondence between the Walker Art Center/director Martin Friedman and Clyfford and Patricia Still. The file opens with the Walker Art Center requesting a photograph of Clyfford Still for the catalog for the "60 American Painters" exhibition from 1960. It then jumps to 1970 upon the opening of the Walker Art Center in 1971 and Martin Friedman's wish to schedule an exhibition of Clyfford Still's work, of which Still refuses because the hazards of traveling paintings, but invites Friedman to visit in New Windsor. Frideman continues to contact Still about doing a show at the Walker Art Center, but Patricia Still responds that Still is too involved with his work to consider an exhibition, but Still has continually rejected exhibitions internationally at the time. Friedman reaches out to notify Still that the Walker Art Center has purchased a 1950 Still from Bert Kleiner in Los Angeles, and requests additional information on the work. Patricia Still explains the reasoning behind not naming paintings to Martin Friedman for their catalogs. Patricia Still provides context on Still's materials, process, and conservation needs for his paintings, specifically for 1950-C (PH-337).
