This file contains correspondence between Clyfford Still and Sidney Janis concerning Still's exclusivity at the Janis Gallery as a dealer, Still's contribution to the "Nine Americans Today" show from January 1954 including the titling of "Yellow Field," there is discussion on Still's frustration with magazines, critics, museums, and galleries, Janis discusses the possibility of a one-man show for Still in 1955, but Still eventually backs out of the exhibition, Still also discusses his frustrations with Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman, Still especially expresses his frustrations with the Rothko show at the Janis Gallery, Still and Janis continually discuss Still's progress in art creation and the possibility of holding a show at the Janis Gallery, Janis discusses various purchases of Stills including faciliting the sale of PH-49 to AKAG, Janis facilitates introducing Still to Gordon Smith and Seymour Knox, and by 1957 Janis is offering $10,000 for any Stills to be sold through the gallery.
