This typed excerpt documents a comment that appeared in the visitors' book from the exhibition "Paintings by Clyfford Still" at the Metart Gallery in San Francisco. Charles S. Yanan wrote the following testimonial upon viewing the exhibition: "Most beautiful and inspiring paintings I have seen in most all of my life." In 1946, Still returned to the Bay Area to begin teaching at the California School of Fine Arts. A group of CSFA students opened the Metart Gallery at the artist's recommendation in 1949. With the announcement of his resignation from his position the following year, Still's students invited him to show a selection of thirteen paintings, twelve of which were completed during his teaching term at the school. On view June 17 through July 14, 1950, the presentation of these artworks served as the gallery’s final exhibition.
