This color photograph depicts an installation view of the exhibition “Clyfford Still” at the University of Pennsylvania’s Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. From left to right, PH-218 (1947), PH-167 (1949), and PH-173 (1955) are on display in the gallery. On view October 18 through December 15, 1963, the exhibition of thirty-two paintings inaugurated the university’s original contemporary gallery space within the Furness Library, which emulates the design of a Venetian Gothic cathedral.
