This black and white photograph depicts an installation view of the exhibition “Clyfford Still” at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York. From left to right, PH-943 (1948), PH-114 (1947-48), and PH-373 (1949, cropped) occupy the gallery space. PH-373 hangs upside down. A handwritten notation placed over the photograph documents information concerning the paintings' titles, provenance, materials, measurements, and exhibition histories. On view April 17 through May 6, 1950, the exhibition was Still’s second one-person show with the gallery. The artist renounced Parsons’ representation in September 1951.
