This color photograph features an exterior view of the Metropolitan Museum of Art during the artist's retrospective, "Clyfford Still: Paintings". A massive red banner announcing the exhibition spans between the columns of the museum's grand entranceway. On view November 17, 1979 through February 3, 1980, the exhibition included seventy-nine paintings, which proved to be the largest presentation afforded by the institution to the work of a living artist.
