This black and white photograph depicts an installation view of the exhibition “Clyfford Still: Thirty-Three Paintings in the Albright-Knox Art Gallery” at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. PH-38 (1955) is on display to the left of a doorway. Proceeding clockwise, PH-193 (1945) and PH-266 (1949) also occupy the gallery. On view February 24 through March 31, 1966, the exhibition honored Still’s 1964 gift of thirty-one artworks, in addition to the two large paintings previously purchased by the institution. The selection of paintings, spanning the years 1937-1963, demonstrated the evolution of Still’s artistic style.
