Work Description:
|
This black and white photograph depicts the sky near Clyfford Still's home at 312 Church Street in New Windsor, Maryland. An inscription on the back of the print indicates that the photographer intended to capture the scene's "extremely unusual skies," however, this imagery does not translate effectively due to the monochromatic quality of the film. Instead, trees and neighboring houses appear against the colorless sky. Viewed from the sidewalk before Still's house, the corner of the structure's covered porch emerges from the upper left edge of the frame.
