Work Description:
This black and white photograph depicts a renovation of the Monroe Street Bridge in Spokane, Washington. Initially constructed in 1911, the bridge was modernized with electric lighting and passenger railways in 1925. Photographed near the top of the bank, this image features a close-up view of a train trestle built over the Spokane River. The trestle's scaffolding extends across the entirety of the photograph's frame, while a utility pole and mangled tree trunk appear in the foreground. The river winds through the mountainous valley in the lower background.
