Work Description:
This black and white photograph depicts a renovation of the Monroe Street Bridge in Spokane, Washington. Initially constructed in 1911, the bridge was modernized with electric lighting and passenger railways in 1925. Scaffolding, utility poles, and construction materials appear on the bank in the foreground. The Spokane River curves around the foundation of the bridge structure, which spans over the river and beneath a train trestle. A steep hill projects into the background.
