This contact sheet features three installation views of the exhibition "Clyfford Still" at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York. The partially cropped print on the left depicts PH-135 (1945) on display in the gallery. In the center print, PH-330 (1946, cropped), PH-189 (1946), PH-141 (1945), and PH-327 (1943) line the walls from left to right. On the right, PH-135 (1945, cropped), PH-300 (1945), PHX-15 (1945), and PH-285 (1945) hang in succession to the left of an exhibit case, which houses a selection of small sculptures. On view April 17 through April 26, 1947, the exhibition was Still’s first solo presentation at the gallery. Prior to its installation, Still wrote to Parsons to declare his decision to eliminate titles and “extraneous statements” when exhibiting his artwork. Parsons complied with the artist’s wishes, and the fifteen paintings were shown without titles.
