Work Description:
This black and white photograph depicts the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam in Grand Coulee, Washington. The dam's construction began in 1933 and concluded in 1942. A complex matrix of scaffolding, machinery, and construction materials surrounds the dam structure, which appears on the left. Several bridges and train trestles in various stages of completion extend over the dam. Railroad tracks appear in the foreground before the construction site, while a mountain projects vertically into the background of the image.
