Work Description:
|
This black and white photograph depicts the gardens at the Yaddo artist's colony in Saratoga Springs, New York, where Clyfford Still spent the summers of 1934 and 1935. The corner of the garden's fountain occupies the left foreground of the image, while the staircase and pergola occupy the background among a row of dense trees. The pergola features ceramic support columns and wooden rafters. Inspired by the Trask family's vacations in Italy, classical sculptures appear throughout the garden.
