Work Description:
|
This color photograph depicts an early self-portrait of Clyfford Still, PH-382 (1940), in the process of being stretched. In the painting, Still faces to his left but turns his head to look toward the viewer, situating him in three-quarter view. He wears glasses and a long dark coat and rests his right hand against a wooden railing. Still tucks the thumb of his left hand into the pocket of his coat. The painting and stretcher bars lean against a plain white wall.
