Work Description:
|
In this black and white photograph, the audience watches graduates approach the stage at the 1967 Maryland Institute College of Art commencement ceremony, which took place outdoors at the Mount Royal Station. The college reclaimed the former train station as an art studio space in 1967. The graduates enter the arena from the top of a hill, while the audience photographs them from below. A prominent sign advertising Goodyear Tires occupies the background, as well as several trees.
