Work Description:
|
This black and white photograph depicts a polo match at the Aiken Polo Club in Aiken, South Carolina. Clyfford Still attended the match with Seymour H. Knox, a financier and arts patron associated with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, in March of 1966. As two opposing polo players on horseback race across the field in pursuit of the ball, the details of the scene blur into the background of the image. Beyond the edge of the field, parked cars, a viewing platform, and a tent appear before a row of tall trees.
