Work Description:
|
This black and white photograph depicts a polo match at the Aiken Polo Club in Aiken, South Carolina. Clyfford Still attended the match with Seymour H. Knox, a financier and arts patron associated with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, in March of 1966. Four polo players on horseback engage one another on the field in the center foreground, while the club's stable appears in the background before a row of trees. Wooden planks act as a barrier between the polo field and the grassy viewing area.
