Work Description:
In this black and white photograph, Clyfford Still's father, John Elmer Still, stands near a well on the family's farm in Alberta, Canada. He balances a bucket against the edge of the well with his right hand. He wears a hat, heavy work gloves, and overalls over a long-sleeved shirt. Piles of machinery, scrap metal, and wood lean against the structure to the right. A fenced-in pen occupies the area between the well and the barn in the background.
