Work Description:
|
In this black and white photograph, a speaker presents a speech before the podium onstage at the 1967 Maryland Institute College of Art commencement ceremony, which took place at the Mount Royal Station in Baltimore. The college converted the former train station into art studio spaces in 1967. Clyfford Still sits behind the podium among the other honorary degree recipients. Still smiles at the man sitting next to him. In the foreground, the back of a man's head partially blocks the camera's view of the stage.
