Work Description:
In this black and white portrait, Clyfford Still poses on a wooden chair in his home at 312 Church Street in New Windsor, Maryland. With his body angled to his left, Still turns his head to look to his right. His right hand grips his right knee, while the other rests in his lap. Still wears a painter's smock over black slacks, a black shirt, and a contrasting light-colored tie. He also sports a beard. Serving as a backdrop for the photograph, a painting hangs on the wall behind the artist.
