In this black and white portrait, Clyfford Still stands on a ladder before PH-246 (1951-2) at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Los Angeles, California. Still travelled to the museum to assist in the installation of several artworks that the institution exhibited during the early 1960s. After its exhibition at LACMA, the owner of PH-246, John Stephan, gifted the painting to the Art Institute of Chicago in 1962.
