Work Description:
This color photograph depicts the installation of PH-379 (1950) at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where it was exhibited from November 1970 to January 1971. Exhibited in a foyer at the college, PH-379 is positioned facedown on the floor as Eugene "Bud" Leake, the institution's president, secures the canvas to its wooden stretchers. Clyfford Still stands before a massive column on the left. He wears a tinted glasses and a dark suit over a red shirt and plaid tie. Still holds a stapler in his right hand. On the right, an unidentified man looks directly at the camera. An additional unidentified figure stands within a doorway in the background. A sculpture occupies the area to the left of the staircase.
