In this black and white portrait, Berenice Robinson Morris, Maurice Becker, Martha Gruening, Allan Porter, and Clyfford Still pose at the top of the staircase at the Yaddo artist's colony in Saratoga, New York. Still spent the summers of 1934 and 1935 with the Trask Foundation. On the far left, Morris, a composer, smiles widely for the camera. She wears a long white skirt with a short-sleeved checkered blouse. On her right, Maurice Becker, a political artist, wears a three piece suit and sports a mustache. Martha Gruening, an author and equal rights activist, wears a long dress and a geometric necklace. Allan Porter, an author, wears a double-breasted suit. On the far right, Clyfford Still tucks his left hand into the pocket of his dark suit coat. He also wears glasses and white slacks. The retreat's garden appears in the background of the photograph.
