Photographed and developed by Sandra Still, this black and white contact sheet includes twenty-five images of Clyfford Still. Sixteen images depict the artist painting PH-886 (1973) at his studio in Westminster, Maryland. In these photographs, Still selects painting materials from a supply table, applies paint to the canvas with a spatula, and poses before the artwork. He wears a light-colored painter's smock over his dark clothing, and sports a beard. In six images, Still poses with a palette before PH-446 (1947), which hangs in the foyer of his home at 312 Church Street in New Windsor, Maryland. He wears a dark painter's smock over a black shirt, black slacks, and a plaid tie. Still wears the same outfit in the remaining three images; however, in these photographs, Still poses before another painting, PH-397 (1948-9), which is mounted upon a set of wooden doors in the foyer of his New Windsor home. He smiles for the camera while holding the palette and tucking his left hand into the pocket of his painter's smock.
