Work Description:
|
In this black and white portrait, Clyfford Still appears in close-up view before PH-177 (1949). With his torso angled to his right, Still faces forward but avoids looking at the camera. He wears glasses and a black sweater over a light-colored shirt. The artist also sports a mustache. The abstracted shapes within the painting occupy the background of the image. Hans Namuth photographed Still in his studio at 48 Cooper Square in New York City on November 24, 1951.
