Work Description:
|
Two different hues of bright yellow pigment cover the majority of this canvas. The darker, saffron yellow fills the outer two edges of the medium-sized vertical composition, while a more vibrant, sunny yellow runs down the center of the canvas and is randomly scattered across the surface of the darker yellow. A horizontal, fluttery field of lavender enters the scene from the lower left edge, runs parallel to the bottom edge, and ends about two-thirds of the way across the canvas, Patches of blue-gray are irregularly placed around the perimeter of the lavender form, lifting it forward into the viewer's picture plane while specks of yellow pigment scattered over the top of the lavender simultaneously push it deeper into space. A violent gash of red, orange and black pigment gapes in the top left corner, surrounded by yellow pigment and a small patch of bare canvas at the top left edge. Several small patches of bright cerulean blue paint peek through the darker yellow near the upper right edge. Lastly, a few small strokes of white paint rise into the scene at the bottom center edge.
