Work Description:
|
A dense black field pervades this small, squarish composition. Varied in saturation and reflectance, areas within the black seem to simultaneously recede and expand. A bright yellow tower-shaped form sits at the work's bottom left corner, rising up about three-fourths the way up its left edge. Within this yellow shape, a cobalt blue flash sits beneath a light brown passage. Another smaller yellow form reaches into the work from the top right corner, and a third, even smaller yellow dash hovers at the work's top edge. A narrow, crimson red figure sits along the bottom right edge and is visible from the bottom right corner up to the painting's center right edge. Lastly, bright white fleeting forms rise from the bottom center edge contrasting with the dee[ black background beyond, and dance up through the center of the composition like smoke or flames.
