Work Description:
|
Six abstracted figures are set in an ambiguous environment. This painting marks a new level of abstraction for Still; the figures' merge with the space around them, and ribs have become finger-like intrusions. Hands are grossly oversized, and their faces merge with torsos and shoulders. The five figures in the background kneel and stare out towards the viewer. The figure on the far left holds a red, orb-like object. A female figure sits in the foreground at left. She appears to be pregnant, and is distinguished from the others by her long, yellow hair and lighter skin color.
