A train approaches head-on towards the viewer down slightly curved tracks. A faint hill is seen in the background, while horizontal tracks are shown parallel to the bottom edge in the foreground. A fence is seen at the far right, and a tall vertical railroad signal rises along the left edge. Smoke rises from the engine off the top right edge of the composition.
