Work Description:
|
Four foundry workers are set in the foreground of an industrial scene. They all stand around and hunch over a large white crane pulley that sits on the ground at the bottom center of the composition. Long black cables hang from the top right of composition and run down to the pulley. The figures are either working on repairing the pulley itself or attaching the cables to the pulley hook. Glowing molten metal runs from the top center edge of the canvas and flows down the right side of a structure that dominates the top half of the work. The entire scene is created by painterly, impastoed brushstrokes, infusing the scene with a mysterious, hazy atmosphere.
