Work Description:
|
This large painting is covered entirely in a rich, velvety black pigment. Still's swirling palette knife strokes create a dynamic surface abundant with depth and texture. A barely visible red lifeline runs vertically down from the top center edge and disappears somewhere near the bottom edge. Just to the left of this line, a small dagger-shaped form of unpainted canvas protrudes up from the bottom edge, providing a welcome respite from the oppressive darkness dominating the rest of the composition.
