Work Description:
|
This photo was taken after the painting was treated by Conservation. Created when Still was just twenty-one, this oil painting is a representational study of a pile of colorful rocks Still might have gathered or stumbled across in the fields around his Bow Island, Alberta farm. There are several graphite preparatory drawings depicting studies of individual stones as well as another smaller, more muted oil painting of the same subject created a year later (PH-130).
