Work Description:
|
This painting shows the interior of a lonely dark bar or cafe. Yellow booths line the wall to the left, below a row of lights illustrated as glowing red orbs. The viewer's eye is drawn along the booths to an open door just left and above center, from which bright white light floods into the dimly lit room in the foreground. A female figure leans in the doorway, and a male figure is visible sitting beyond the door in the brightly lit room. A stage is shown in shadow on the right in the front room, on which a chair, cello, and piano sit in solitude. Another red-glowing light is paired with a single blue light above the stage.
