Work Description:
|
Composed of intermingling flurries in yellow and brown, this relatively square painting is typical of Still's classic early Abstract Expressionist style. Several interjections of white at top center and left center fill the gaps between the yellow forms. The white pigment appears only in areas of bare canvas left exposed at the top and left center. A black form infiltrates the scene from the right edge, reaching into the brown at the bottom right. A bright blue is just visible in the black form's core at the bottom right edge. Two small fiery red flashes appear as accents: one is seen at the top left amidst one of the yellow forms and the other hovers in the brown just above the black appendage at the bottom right.
