Work Description:
|
A figure is suggested in this small painting through two maroon-brown lines set against a creamy-white space. One line rises from the bottom left edge of the canvas and forms an arch before running down off the bottom right edge of the work. This arch forms the figure's torso and shoulder. The other line rises from the bottom center edge of the canvas and up to the right, where it forms an ovoid form which rests atop the arch and represents the figure's head. A single oval is placed within the top center of this form, thus becoming one or both of the figure's eyes. These lines are surrounded by more erratic yellow lines, which echo the darker lines and create a more active scene and merge the two forms into one unified presence.
