Work Description:
Often referred to as "Indian Blanket" or "Indian Red and Black," this painting resembles a Native American blanket in its colors and compositional arrangement of forms. It is primarily covered with a rich, earthy sienna color and has black and white craggy forms over the left half and along the right edge. A single golden-yellow form resides in the top left corner, over which three small bright yellow dabs are painted. One bright red lifeline runs from top to bottom edge just to the right of center, and a second red lifeline is located over the top of the black form at right. Two long streaks of green and two small dashes of blue exist just to the right of this smaller lifeline. A tiny sliver of cobalt rests in the bottom left corner.
