Work Description:
|
Quasi-abstract forms painted in shades of black, gray and tan completely fill this painting. Recognizable human or animal shapes start to emerge from the darkness, such as the rib cage at the top left corner silhouetted against what seems to be a bright light source. A brown arm bone or shoulder emerges from a source near this rib cage and juts over and down along the right edge of the canvas before transforming into a series of brown and black vertical shapes at the bottom right corner held together by a curving outline reminiscent of some kind of ungulate skull. To the left of this form, another series of rib-like parallel brown lines fall from a bold diagonal line jutting up and into the center of the jumbled mass of form and color at the center of the work. Shades of red, green, white and yellow all can be seen glowing amid the darkness, highlighting other blade or bone-line forms.
