Work Description:
|
The left half of this vertically-oriented work is filled with a matte black pigment. By contrast, the right half is composed of multiple vertically-oriented forms which fit together like puzzle pieces; some of these forms are bare canvas and created through the use of negative space, while others are painted in shades of brown, white, orange, yellow, and gray-blue. The largest of the forms is a deep chocolate-brown, which rises from the bottom edge. To the right of this is a lighter, ochre-brown, which runs along the right edge but is interrupted by a small interjection of cobalt blue surrounded by bare canvas just below center. A thin orange lifeline splits the composition from top to bottom and is bordered by a flat white pigment. A shot of yellow enters from the top center edge, and two tiny forms in gray are also located along the top edge.
