Work Description:
This color slide features an installation view at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. From left to right, PH-189 (1946, cropped), PH-193 (1945), PH-186 (1949), and PH-199 (1946) hang to the left of a doorway. Proceeding clockwise, PH-102 (1948), PH-38 (1955, cropped), PH-266 (1949, cropped), PH-267 (1950, cropped), and PH-12 (1954, cropped) line the walls to the right of the doorway. In the background, a portion of PH-110 (1949, cropped) appears next to PH-157 (1948) within a distant gallery. In May 1964, Still gifted 31 artworks to accompany the two paintings previously purchased by the museum. Spanning the years 1937 to 1963, the ensemble of paintings chronicles the most critical developments of the artist’s career.
