Work Description:
This color slide depicts an installation view of the group exhibition “Acquisition Priorities: Aspects of Postwar Painting in America” at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. Loaned by the Marlborough Gallery, PH-178 (1956) is on display within the museum's iconic cylindrical space. On view October 15, 1976 through January 16, 1977, the exhibition presented a selection of paintings from the Guggenheim Collection, as well as loaned artworks that reflected the institution’s collecting interests during that time period. The majority of the artists represented in the exhibition were associated with the Abstract Expressionist movement.
