Work Description:

This color slide depicts an installation view of the exhibition “Paintings by Clyfford Still” at the Albright Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. The artist's second wife, Patricia Still, poses among paintings in the gallery. PH-369 (1951, cropped) extends from the left edge of the frame, while a portion of PH-140 (1949) appears on a partition behind Mrs. Still. Proceeding clockwise, PH-256 (1948) and PH-266 (1949) line the wall. On view November 5 through December 13, 1959, the retrospective featured seventy-two artworks curated by Still himself. In 1964, the artist made a landmark gift of 31 paintings to the museum.
